Environment art and design for Flavour’s project HackShield.
HackShield is a puzzle game and platform that teaches kids about cyber security.
You can play it here! https://joinhackshield.nl/
In this project I helped create the look and feel of the game. I designed the worlds, created the assets and placed the assets in the scenes.
I worked in Photoshop, Blender and Unity.
These are some of the first concepts I made, I wanted a world that looked cyber, colourful and cool, with lots of data floating around the player’s levels.
(All characters you see are designed by another artist).
After releasing the first version of the game we entered a new design phase. This time we wanted a world that was more connected. The player’s levels shouldn’t be floating in a random space. Also we added money (and being responsible with it) as a theme of the game. These are a couple of the concepts, more or less in chronological order:
Bonus prop design, this is a moneyblock. Players have to collect these to win the game.
Onwards to production! We were on a tight schedule so we only spent a little less than 2 weeks on the concepting.
Building the levels was an iterative process for me, I started with rough blockouts and kept updating and polishing them untill the final result.
Following up are a couple of images of the levels in the game.
